Czech operas appear on programme of various opera houses on regular basis and every professional singer will come accross the Czech repertoire and the Czech language during their career. You might know an uncomfortable feeling of studying a libretto in an uncommon language without an easily available 24 hour language help. Your language advisor has just a limited time for you if they are available at all and singers´ pronunciation on CD recordings is undoubtedly not a sufficient source for learning the right pronunciation. Nevertheless, we have an alternative easy solution for you!

Zuzana Michlerová
Opera Tutor
Zuzana Michlerova graduated from the Prague Conservatoire where she studied opera singing and composition and from the University of Economics, Prague. She has also participated in various voice master-classes in the Czech Republic and abroad as for example those at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena (Giuseppe Sabbatini), at the Dartington International Summer School in the UK (Richard Edgar Wilson, Della Jones, Peter Knapp, Josephine Barstow) or within the Académie de Sablé (Caroline Pelon). Ms Michlerova is a linguist too. She is fluent in Czech, English, Italian, French and German, the Czech language is her mother tongue. She has mostly developed her language knowledge at the University of Economics in Prague and during her study programmes and internships abroad. Currently, she teaches English, Italian and Czech for foreigners and works as a language advisor for opera singers. Her experience in opera singing and her language background make her an ideal tutor for opera singers who desire to improve their pronunciation when singing a repertoire in a foreign language.
